Desk Design and Rehab

I found this sexy desk along with my other recent finds at an estate and was drooling over the open shelves and wooden knobs! I knew with some dark paint and a dark stain on the drawers the piece could really have a whole new life. I chose a saturated blue called peacock tail and went to work sanding the drawers. This is a desk that took a lot of abuse and I decided to leave most of the dents and nicks in the wood since I didn't want that history to be lost.

I was a little worried that with the dark paint and dark wood the piece would become visually heavy, but the drawers really pop against the blue and the open shelves lighten the whole piece.

This desk makes the perfect work station and provides a little bit of visual weight to my oversized vintage pull-down school map.

I'm loving everything about this desk, what do y'all think?
